Is a Facebook Chatbot the answer to 10x your businesses sales?
This is what a Chatbot is:
A simple program that has been programmed to say and do: “If the person clicks THIS… then say “that“. And if the person clicks THIS 2nd OPTION, well then write back “this“.
That is all it is! 1+1 = 2 type stuff.
The important question is, can this work for your business?
Several of the creators of these chatbots throw in the term “Ai” (Artificial Intelligence), when they talk about their chatbots. But, I say they are not there yet. And it’s a long way off.
Lots of business owners, especially younger business owners have SPRINTED to Chatbots as if they are the missing piece of the puzzle to their $1million dollar overnight business. But like all the shiny objects before it, it’s not the secret ingredient.
A true Artificially Intelligent Chatbot would not need you or I to click buttons and type in a specific word for it to process: “ok, she clicked the word microwave so now I know I need to reply back to her with this“.
A true Ai Chatbot would think for itself and give you and I something that it’s thought about and knows we would like without us having to prompt it.
How YOU Could Use Chatbots Today!
If you’ve already figured out how to sell your product and/or service, and you’ve been doing that on near autopilot for months, a Chatbot could compliment the process.
But if you have not already proven your product and your marketing, a Chatbot is just another tool in your toolbox, that won’t be utilised.
Here’s how you could use Chatbots:
- On your Facebook Page.
- When someone clicks to message you on the Facebook messenger, your chatbot could say “Hi there Craig, are you here about the microwaves or the fridges?”
- Because from your experience, you know that 90% of people message you to ask about the microwaves or the fridges! (make sense?). So you’re jumping to the point that is going to help 90% of people quickly, and to reduce your manual labour time responding to every message.
- When someone clicks to message you on the Facebook messenger, your chatbot could say “Hi there Craig, are you here about the microwaves or the fridges?”
But if you didn’t know that already, you’d just be playing darts blindfolded with your Chatbot.
A second way you could use Chatbots is:
- On Your Website
- When someone visits your website and has been there for 60 seconds, your chatbot can pop up and say “Hi there, are you looking for the fridge with the best deal today?‘
- Because you already know that “the best deal” is THE MOST COMMON THING your previous customers have said to you. So it’s not a guess, you set up your Chatbot to help them and also help you answer the same question (whatever that is) 47x every day!
- When someone visits your website and has been there for 60 seconds, your chatbot can pop up and say “Hi there, are you looking for the fridge with the best deal today?‘
Until you know the thing that 90% of customers ask you, a Chatbot will just be a distraction from what is really important (learning how to sell your product/service).
Chatbots are commonly integrated with Facebook Messenger. Because when it comes to online advertising, Facebook is the Elephant in the room. And when it comes to chat or messaging on Facebook, of course ‘Facebook Messenger‘ is the tool.
That’s why it may seem that Chatbots and Facebook can only be used together. While that’s not true, it IS how the majority of Chatbots have been set up due to Facebooks popularity.
For more info on Chatbot providers (remembering that you will need to integrate them with Facebook Messenger), here are the main companies providing these right now:
In no particular order:
You may already be thinking what I’m about to say next.
Your target demographic would also be a big clue to determine IF a chatbot could be a smart extra avenue, into being your customer.
If you’re selling caravans to retirees, maybe this will not be a worthwhile investment of time and energy. Maybe setting up call backs with a real person will be a more profitable angle for you. (you can Facebook Ads still to do this of course).
If you’re selling Fitness and Lifestyle Programs to females 30 and under, and if you’ve already proven you know how to sell it successfully, setting up a chatbot on your website or with Facebook messenger may be worth a test.
