DON’T Be Like Me.

I can’t build or design a website, but I used to be a master website creator.

I could get a website designed, built and live in less than 48 hours – but I couldn’t (and still can’t) do any of the actual work to save my own life.

One early idea I had was a ‘short story’ website, where best-selling authors (in the making), could write short stories, gain a following and start charging to read their books. I hired a web developer in Romania for $1,000 to start with.

From memory, I think his name was Igor – but I could easily be remembering a different programmer from a different old failed job.

With a big project like the short story website that I planned out, I knew I just had to have Igor get the mechanics working. It didn’t have to be pretty, but it had to work.

I would then hire a designer for $300 or so, to come in look at all the pages once they were working and say: “redesign it”.

The short version is, I had the website built, no one came to it or signed up for it. And I moved onto my next big idea.

Jumping from idea to idea like that, is a sign of not really knowing how to launch and run a successful online business. It’s VERY easy to think your new idea is THE ONE, the hard part is making it the one.

So when THE ONE is turning out to be a tough nut to crack, the next big idea that rolls on into your head, it saves you from yourself and having to figure out the previous one – perfect!

Imagine a Doctor who has read all the text books, but who has never fixed a real life and sick patient.

That was me.

I knew all the lingo, all the rules and what to do… but a decade ago, I had never actually done it.

Don’t be like me.

Identity your main idea now, and here’s what to do next…

Instead of spending $1,000++ on having the whole thing built, spend $100 on advertising the idea.

That’s one of the smartest things you could do, and I learnt it from Tim Ferriss, the author of the 4 Hour Work Week.

If you can’t generate “some” interest with $100 of marketing, spending 10x or 100x more than that won’t fix the problem. It will just make it a 10x or 100x bigger problem.

If you want help with spending a small amount of money to test your idea on Facebook, get a copy of my book on Facebook marketing here.

Just follow the formula.
